Description from the seller

Turnery Objects and Board Games
Magnificent set of 3 boxed game items, accompanied by their accessories. Pieces of character blending the finesse of woodwork and French history.

1- Card Box in Inlaid Mother-of-Pearl and Precious Woods
This rectangular box is a remarkable turnery piece, probably Art Deco period or mid-20th century.
• Decoration: The lid features a geometric inlay of iridescent mother-of-pearl triangles and contrasting wood species.
• Interior: Made with solid wood compartments (likely mahogany) to hold two decks of cards.
• Included accessories: Two complete 54-card decks from the famous house B.P. Grimaud (Paris), collection "Kings of France".
• Card details: Historical portraits of Marguerite of Valois (Queen of Clubs) and Louis XIV (King of Hearts). The cards are presented in their original cases under cellophane.

2- Dice Box in Thuya Wood Burl and Brass
A square-shaped box with exceptional figuring, typical of late 19th-century luxury objects
• Material: Entirely crafted in thuya burl (or amboyna burl), offering natural speckled patterns with deep depth.
• Finish: Hinges and opening tab in gilt brass.
• Included accessories: Pair of resin dice in green marbled color.

3- Napoleon III Era Work Box
Elegant rectangular box with beveled sides in veneers of precious wood (likely rosewood and ebony). The lid features a rich marquetry decor of "butterfly wings" within surrounding filet borders, centered by a Rococo brass cartouche (monogram-free).
Opening operated by a push-button mechanism on the front. The interior, stained mahogany, is divided into three compartments. Edges are accented with protective metal battens.
Era: Second half of the 19th century (ca. 1870).
Condition:
• Good overall condition of marquetry and varnish.
• Push-button mechanism functioning.
• Tiny veneer separations and wear consistent with age.
• Overall in very good used condition.
Dimensions: 20.5 cm x 13.5 cm x 5 cm
