Turnery Objects and Board Games
Magnificent set of 3 boxed game items, accompanied by their accessories. Pieces of character blending the finesse of woodwork and French history.
1- Card Box in Inlaid Mother-of-Pearl and Precious Woods
This rectangular box is a remarkable turnery piece, probably Art Deco period or mid-20th century.
• Decoration: The lid features a geometric inlay of iridescent mother-of-pearl triangles and contrasting wood species.
• Interior: Made with solid wood compartments (likely mahogany) to hold two decks of cards.
• Included accessories: Two complete 54-card decks from the famous house B.P. Grimaud (Paris), collection "Kings of France".
• Card details: Historical portraits of Marguerite of Valois (Queen of Clubs) and Louis XIV (King of Hearts). The cards are presented in their original cases under cellophane.
2- Dice Box in Thuya Wood Burl and Brass
A square-shaped box with exceptional figuring, typical of late 19th-century luxury objects
• Material: Entirely crafted in thuya burl (or amboyna burl), offering natural speckled patterns with deep depth.
• Finish: Hinges and opening tab in gilt brass.
• Included accessories: Pair of resin dice in green marbled color.
3- Napoleon III Era Work Box
