Description from the seller
Silk Table Runner Repurposed from Vintage Japanese Silk Fukuro Obi – Heian Ox Carriage in Golden Haze
Item Description:
An elegant table runner remade from a genuine silk Fukuro Obi, featuring a refined Heian aristocrat and “Uta-makura” poetic motif. The luxurious gold and silver ground creates a brilliant, reflective surface, beautifully highlighting the woven figures dressed in classical court attire. Soft tones of pale blue, ivory, purple, navy, and warm orange add depth and sophistication to the traditional design.
This piece has been carefully repurposed from a formal Japanese obi, preserving the richness of Nishijin-style woven textile craftsmanship. The design evokes the graceful world of the Heian period, associated with poetry, court culture, and classical Japanese elegance. It is ideal for use as a table runner, decorative display cloth, tea ceremony accent, or interior textile art.
The table runner has no inner core, allowing the silk fabric to remain soft and flexible.
