Box - Oak - Bbbia carrying box

This is a late 17th-century oak Bible box, carved with relief decorations. It measures 26 x 16 x 13 cm in height and weighs 1.180 kg. Made of carved oak wood, it features panels engraved with floral relief decorations and vegetal scrolls. Inside, the lid is also engraved with the owner's initials "C G" in the same style. Of Lombard/Venetian manufacture from the late 18th century, it was originally used as a sacristan's ecclesiastical casket or to contain Bibles. Perfectly preserved, it shows some signs of age, but overall it is in excellent condition, with no missing parts or fractures. Contemporary in all its parts and with original patina. A splendid testimony to the past, yet at the same time a precious antique object of great decorative value, distinctive and collectible for its excellent state of preservation.
