Esplosione Gialla, a 1987 oil on panel by Giancarlo Pizzelli (Italy), sold with a gold-toned wooden frame.
Description from the seller
Fascinating work by the Busseto-born master Giancarlo Pizzelli (1933-2005), an artist of great temperament known to critics as the "second Ligabue".
The painting, an oil on panel dated 1987, is a perfect example of his most sought-after stylistic signature: a painting with extremely thick impasto. The yellow flowers emerge from the support with sculptural three-dimensionality, creating a vibrant contrast with the deep blue vase and the dark background.
Retro and Documentation:
The work is a piece of documented history. On the back are preserved and affixed newspaper clippings from the period (including Il Resto del Carlino) celebrating the artist's successes, mentioning the international prizes received (Oscar des Etrangers San Remo '79). There is also an autograph marker signature on the rear panel.
