Six crystal Prunkgläser in antique style by Josephinenhütte from Silesia (Germany), dating to circa 1900–1910, in good used condition.
Description from the seller
Museales Set: Josephinenhütte Prunkgläser – Art Nouveau (ca. 1900)
Manufacturer: Josephinenhütte, Silesia (Glatz County).
Timeframe: Around 1900, the heyday of Jugendstil (Art Nouveau).
Condition: Excellent, display pieces, no damage or chips.
Origin: Silesia (then Germany, now Poland – Szklarska Poręba).
Artistic Description:
A spectacular series of Prunkgläser, captivating with the sculptural design of their stems. The organically shaped stems of colored glass (amethyst, cobalt blue, emerald green) wind around the cups like stylized tendrils. The cups themselves are made of ultra-thin blown opal glass (Lattimo), providing an elegant contrast to the elaborate base.
Quality Features:
Craftsmanship: Impressive height of 27 cm, with fully handcrafted stems ("a lume" technique).
Material: Historic Kalikristall. The glasses possess a balanced, medium weight — neither massive like modern lead crystal nor light like ordinary glass — which confirms the specific density of luxurious manufactories of this era.
Collectible Value: An absolute rarity due to the structural integrity of the branched stems. These are first-class investment pieces for discerning glass collectors.
Sculptural elegance and a symbol of European glass art at the turn of the century.
