Description from the seller
This is a double-layered bamboo-woven fruit basket made of blue lacquerware by Kyuran Workshop in Japan.
The shape is a rounded, open bowl, with a smooth, polished rim. The bowl is crafted using a double-layered bamboo weaving technique; the outer layer is woven with a fine diamond pattern, while the inner bottom layer uses a hexagonal weave to create symmetrical and regular geometric patterns, resulting in a sturdy overall structure. The entire body is coated with natural red and black lacquer, giving it a lustrous and glossy finish. A metal plaque bearing the "Kyuran" mark is embedded at the bottom, serving as the workshop's official identifier.
Blue lacquerware is a classic category in traditional Japanese crafts, combining bamboo weaving and lacquer art. Kyuran Workshop's works are renowned for their exquisite weaving techniques and delicate lacquer application. This piece shows no obvious paint chipping, cracking, or deformation; the bamboo weaving texture is intact, and the lacquer surface has a good gloss.
