Ceramic photophore/bougeoir from France, circa 1950s–1970s, black glazed ceramic with a baluster body and geometric openwork housing an inner candle cup, attributed monogram to Jean Marais and Vallauris origin, dimensions 18.5 × 11 × 9 cm, in excellent condition with only minor signs of wear.

Monogram beneath attributed to Jean Marais, production from Vallauris.
Model with a baluster body in dark ceramic with a hammered texture, featuring a geometric openwork opening revealing an inner dish intended to hold a candle.
The piece is distinguished by:
its sculptural ring handle,
its stylized pouring spout,
and its architectural neck evoking Vallauris's modernist explorations in the 1950s–1970s.
Deep black enamel with brown-metallic reflections.
Beautiful sculptural presence, between ritual object, modernist lantern, and functional sculpture.
