RARE M18 helmet of the German army from World War I.

The M18 helmet was the transition between the M16/17 and the M35 of World War II. A very rare helmet because it was produced for only a few years.

We can distinguish this model by the absence of rivet holes along the rim of the nape area. These rivet holes being directly fixed to the inner rim.

This helmet was found on a farm in the Somme. It was surely reused after the war for something else (a shovel, various tools, which was very common at the time and gives it extra character). This is shown by the fact that the air vents are blocked, and a hole is made in the nape to attach a handle.

We can see green color, as well as possible traces of camouflage (see photos).
