You are bidding on a good french 4/4 violin after Giovanni Paolo Maggini, labeled "H. C. Silvestre a Paris 1888 HCS".

Condition:

No cracks

Description:

Good quality high to medium grained spruce was chosen for the top, and the maple of the two pieces back with beautiful grain is strongly flamed. Matched sides and scroll. The double inlaid purfling is a tasteful work of good craftsmanship, just as the shining, golden orange varnish. The whole length of the violin is 588 mm and the back 356 mm. Violins and bows described as 'certified' or 'attributed' include images of their certificates and are therefore considered to have a higher degree of documented certainty regarding maker, origin, and age than instruments described only as 'labelled' (violins) or 'stamped' (bows), for which we provide no guarantee of any kind
