Description from the seller
Antique Copper Cooking Set – Cauldron & Jug – 19th Century
______________________________________________________________________________________
This authentic set of two antique copper vessels is a fine example of traditional European craftsmanship from the 19th century.
The lot consists of a hand-hammered copper cauldron with forged iron swing handle and a matching copper jug/pitcher. Both pieces show classic construction techniques, including riveted joints, hand-shaped forms, and visible hammer marks, characteristic of pre-industrial or early industrial production.
The interiors display remnants of tin lining, traditionally applied to protect food from direct contact with copper. The surfaces feature a rich, naturally developed patina with oxidation, wear, and age-related traces, giving both objects strong decorative appeal and historical authenticity.
Such vessels were widely used in rural households for cooking over open fire, heating liquids, or general domestic purposes.
