German-made 742 Masterpiece fountain pen with a gold-plated finish and black resin body, 14K gold nib, piston filling system in working order, 12.9 cm long and 1.1 cm in diameter, dating from the second half of the 20th century, in good used condition.
Description from the seller
The pen is presented in very good overall condition, highlighting especially its attractive fully gold-plated finish with a striped pattern, which preserves an intense and uniform shine, enhancing its elegant and classic character.
The body shows slight signs of use consistent with the passage of time, visible only upon close inspection, in the form of micro surface marks. No relevant dents or deformations are apparent, maintaining excellent structural integrity.
The cap, with integrated clip, is well secured and functional, preserving its correct alignment. The engravings and decorative details remain sharp and well defined.
The black resin section presents a good state, with light signs of use appropriate to its age, without cracks or structural damage.
The 14K gold nib (585) is in very good condition, with correct alignment and no appreciable deformations. The piston-filling system has been inspected and functions correctly, ensuring smooth and safe operation.
In sum, this is a well-preserved specimen, fully functional and ready for use or collection, with a highly striking aesthetic presence.
Conservation recommendations
It is recommended to use high-quality inks specifically for fountain pens, avoiding pigmented inks. If not in use for an extended period, clean with lukewarm water, dry carefully before storing, and keep in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Operate the filling system gently to preserve its internal mechanics.
It will be sent in a courtesy box for proper preservation. Happy bidding!
