Montblanc 644 Masterpiece fountain pen with a black resin body, a gold-plated cap, a 14K gold nib and an ebonite feed, 13.5 cm long and 1.2 cm in diameter, made in Germany in the mid-20th century, in good used condition and fully functioning.
Description from the seller
A0000003792
The Montblanc 644 fountain pen we present is in a very attractive condition, showing an elegant and well-maintained presence that reflects careful use over time.
The body and grip section, made of high-quality black resin, retain a deep and uniform shine. There are extremely light micro-scratches typical of a vintage piece, only visible under close inspection, but overall the material is very well preserved, with no cracks or deformations and a clean general aesthetic.
The metal cap with gold plating shows a natural patina that is very characteristic and adds a pleasant vintage character to the piece. The surface shows uniform and elegant wear, with soft marks from the passage of time that do not affect the cap’s structural integrity. The clip maintains its correct shape and functionality, keeping good fit and alignment.
At the top of the cap the Montblanc emblem is clearly visible, well defined and properly seated. The model number “644” engraving on the finial remains visible, which helps to correctly identify this reference within the brand’s classic range.
The original Montblanc 14-carat gold (14C) nib is in very good condition, with sharp engravings and no structural deformations. The nib shows proper alignment and retains its proper shape, showing normal signs of use compatible with the piece’s age.
The ebonite feed looks clean and well preserved, maintaining its intact structure and ink-feeding function.
The pen has been serviced and tested, delivered fully functional and ready for use, as is customary with pieces prepared by Collecting Legacy.
Overall, this is a Montblanc 644 with a very attractive vintage aesthetic, where the patina on the metal cap adds character without compromising the general good condition of the piece.
Conservation recommendations
To preserve this fountain pen in optimal condition, use high-quality inks specifically for fountain pens, avoiding pigmented inks or those with particles. If not used for an extended period, it is advisable to clean it with warm water, dry it completely before storing, and keep it in a dry place, away from direct light and extreme temperatures. The mechanism should be operated gently at all times to ensure its proper longevity.
It will be sent in a courtesy box for proper preservation.
