Description from the seller

Very beautiful Art Deco wall coat rack. The coat rack is 80 cm wide, 20 cm high, and 14 cm deep. It is made of oak, and the hooks are iron, equipped with a lovely wooden knob; typical Art Deco and the Amsterdam School. The coat rack weighs about 3.5 kg.
The coat rack dates from the 1920s of the last century and is a typical product of Art Deco, and in particular of the Amsterdam School. Very typical for this are the clean and symmetrical lines of the decoration on the coat rack (see photos), and the shape of the hooks. These hooks are also sold separately and fetch high prices!
The wooden balls on Art Deco coat hooks (often from the 1920s and 1930s) are a typical stylistic feature of geometricism and functional decoration. They fit within the broader Art Deco style and specifically the Amsterdam School. Art Deco is known for its clean lines and geometric figures. The ball is a basic shape that creates a symmetrical, balanced design. The combination of wooden balls (often in dark wood species) with metal is characteristic. This creates a rich contrast, which suits the glamour of the 1920s and 1930s. The wooden ball hooks are “stylized,” meaning they are simply but powerfully shaped to embellish the functionality (hanging coats). The Amsterdam School was characterized by robust, striking forms and the use of wood, often alternating with contrasting materials.
This coat rack is still in very good condition. It is also 100% original. Also very beautiful are the two sides and the black drop with triangles on the coat rack panel. Those decorative elements, but also the balls on the hooks, are ebonized. Ebonizing was commonly done in the past. To make wood look like expensive ebony wood, it was stained black.
This simple yet stylish coat rack, with its distinctive design, is a jewel in any interior and certainly a conversation piece.
The coat rack is professionally packed, and insured for shipping.
