Waterman Ideal 92 fountain pen, made in the United States, in marbled celluloid with a 14K gold nib, lever-fill, 12.8 cm long and 1.1 cm in diameter, from the early 20th century, in good used condition and fully functional.
Description from the seller
The piece presents a very satisfactory overall condition, especially considering its age, maintaining an attractive aesthetic and fully functional.
The body and the cap in marbled celluloid keep a beautiful pattern with good depth of color. Signs of use appropriate to the passage of time are observed, mainly superficial micro-scratches and a slight loss of gloss in some areas, with no cracks or visible deformations. The engraving on the barrel (“Waterman’s Ideal”) is present albeit softened, something common in pieces of this era.
The metal elements gold-plated, such as the clip, the cap ring, and the feed lever, retain a good general presence. Wear is observed on the plating, especially on the clip, where use has dulled the original gilding, without affecting its structural functionality.
The lever-fill system has been serviced and works correctly, allowing efficient ink filling and immediate use.
The original Waterman’s Ideal 14K gold nib is in good condition, with no appreciable deformations, with proper alignment and smooth writing performance. It shows wear consistent with its historical use, maintaining optimal performance.
Overall, this is an authentic and well-preserved specimen, with signs of use appropriate to its age, that do not compromise its aesthetics or functionality, resulting in a very attractive piece for both collection and daily use.
Conservation recommendations:
It is advised to use quality fountain pen inks and avoid pigmented inks. In case of prolonged non-use, clean with lukewarm water, thoroughly dry before storing and keep in a dry place, away from direct light and extreme temperatures. Operate the filling system gently to preserve its proper operation.
It will be sent in a courtesy box for proper preservation.
