Laotian votive statuette in lacquered wood and gold leaf depicting Buddha seated in meditation on a stylized lotus base.

Craftsmanship from the late 20th century, early 20th century.

12.4 cm tall, 6.7 cm wide, 5.4 cm deep.

Beautiful old decorative object.

THE SELLER

For more than 30 years, I travel through Southeast Asia, especially Burma, for pleasure, for meetings, but also to collect ancient objects, increasingly hard to find. This statuette was collected in Laos in the early 2000s.

CONDITION

Condition is fair for an object of this era but shows signs of age; the gilding is partially worn away in places, which does not take away from its charm (see photos).

DESCRIPTION

Statuette votive laotienne en bois laqué et doré à la feuille d'or représentant Bouddha assis en méditation sur une base en forme de lotus stylisé.

Travail artisanal de la fin du XXème siècle, début XXème.

12,4 cms de hauteur, 6,7 cms de largeur, 5,4 cms de profondeur.

Bel objet ancien et décoratif.

LE VENDEUR

Depuis plus de 30 ans, je parcours l'Asie du Sud Est et surtout la Birmanie, pour le plaisir, pour les rencontres mais également pour collecter des objets anciens, de plus en plus difficiles à trouver. Cette statuette a été collectée au Laos, au début des années 2000.

ETAT

Etat correct pour un objet de cette époque mais porte les traces de son âge, la dorure est partiellement effacée à certains endroits, ce qui n'enlève rien à son charme  (voir photos).
