Description from the seller
Chess "CATHOLIC KINGS"
Beautiful vintage chess from the 1960s, with a theme about the Catholic Monarchs, Isabel I of Castile and Ferdinand II of Aragon, in the midst of the reconquest of the Nazarí kingdom of Granada, by Muhammad XII "Boabdil".
The pieces are busts of the characters, made of bronze in aged gold and silver colors, with great detail in their fabrication, as can be seen in the photographs. The king measures 6.5 cm, the pawn 4 cm, with a base of 2 cm. All have felt on their bases, which allows perfect sliding over the board without fear of damage. The pieces are quite heavy.
The board is of good size; it is a marvel of inlay (tarácea), a technique consisting of inlaying different types of wood in their natural or stained color, with mother of pearl or nacre, with more than 14 centuries of tradition.
The nacre and the different types of enameled wood create a beautiful visual effect that speaks for itself. See the photographs and witness the beauty of the set, with dimensions of 30 cm in length and 30 cm in width. Very comfortable for playing.
The combination of these pieces in gilded bronze and aged silver on the board creates a set with a lovely visual effect as the pieces reflect on the board, but judge for yourself based on the extensive photo report.
The case is the original one for the pieces and, due to the passage of time, shows some slight damage on the inside, but nothing that detracts from the value of the set.
This is an authentic collector's item, given its age and state of preservation.
It will be shipped in appropriate packaging to protect it during transport. With tracking number.
