This elegant Japanese lacquerware box features a refined black urushi lacquer surface adorned with a striking gold depiction of a hō-ō (鳳凰, phoenix) in flight.

The composition combines minimal modern aesthetics with traditional Japanese symbolism. The phoenix, rendered in flowing gold lines, represents renewal, harmony, prosperity, and imperial elegance in East Asian art traditions. Beside it appears a stylized chrysanthemum crest motif, further reinforcing the auspicious and ceremonial atmosphere of the design.
