AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Large Abstract Ceramic Sculpture
Off-white glazed ceramic

A striking large ceramic sculpture with an almost dangerous sense of movement. The piece rises from a compact square base into a cluster of sharp, vertical forms: pointed spires, cylindrical elements and projecting geometric planes, all arranged in a tense architectural composition.

At first glance, the sculpture looks as if it might topple. That is part of its drama. The tall, narrow elements seem to lean, overlap and push upward in different directions, giving the object a wonderfully unstable visual energy. In reality, it is very well constructed and stands firmly and stably on its base. It has a clever sculptural contradiction: visually risky while in fact very stable and secure.

The form is highly graphic. Some elements resemble towers or sails, others almost industrial fins or abstracted architectural fragments. The off-white ceramic surface softens the severity of the silhouette, while the lightly speckled glaze and warmer tones in the recesses give it depth and tactility. It feels both modernist and slightly futuristic, like a small ivory-coloured city.

The maker is unknown to us, but the piece is signed with initals underneath. Clearly made by a professional. It is a large and heavy sculpture, with carefully modelled forms, crisp edges and a strong command of balance. The sculpture is undamaged and presents beautifully. Its height, sharp silhouette and unusual construction make it a real eye-catcher: ideal on a console or sidetable / pedestal

For shipping, the sculpture will be packed with great care. Because of its weight and the pointed ceramic elements, it will be very well protected for transport.

Condition:
Very good condition. Undamaged, stable and well made. Natural glaze variations, small speckles and surface irregularities inherent to the handmade ceramic process.
