Ganesha, the son of Shiva and Parvati, sits in the relaxed royal pose ('lalitasana') on a throne, with both hands on the knees. The right hand is in 'abhaya mudra' (gesture of protection) and in the other he holds his beloved treat, a ball of sweets.
