The Philips VG-8020 is a computer that adheres to the MSX 1 standard. It was manufactured in Japan by Yashica-Kyocera for Philips.
It was sold throughout Europe under the name Philips VG-8020, except in Italy where it was marketed under a second Philips brand: Phonola VG-8020.
It was sold in four variants:
* VG-8020/00 PAL with a QWERTY keyboard and a black/anthracite case with a silver upper section
* VG-8020/19 SECAM with an AZERTY keyboard and a case completely in black/anthracite
* VG-8020/20 PAL: same case as version /00 and a revised motherboard
* VG-8020/40 PAL: same case as version /00 and a smaller revised motherboard
The unit for sale is a VG-8020/40 version in very good cosmetic condition. It works perfectly and all keys respond. It has been tested with two ROM cartridge games on a Philips CM8833 monitor.
The box is in decent condition for its age. Please check the photos for more detail.
The monitor and the EPROM cartridge are not included.
