Original porcelain Reservistenflasche from ca. 1900–1910, 21 cm high by 12 cm wide, made in Germany for the 6th Company, 8th Baden Infantry Regiment No. 169 at Rastatt, featuring a rare tin mount with a full-figured soldier and a movable metal shield, in good used condition.

Reservist Bottle 1900 – 8th Baden Infantry Regiment No. 169 Rastatt – With Rare Figure Mounting
For sale is a superbly preserved, original reservist bottle (field bottle) from the period of the German Empire (circa 1900). A top-class keepsake of the service time of a German conscript, in exceptionally good and complete condition.
Regiment / Unit: 6th Company, 8th Baden Infantry Regiment No. 169
Garrison / Location: Fortress town Rastatt (Baden)
Name of the Reservist: Reservist Tauber
Special feature (closure): Very elaborate, three-dimensional tin screw cap with a fully figurative soldier figure (with Pickelhaube) sitting on a barrel. In the figure's hand is the original, swing-mounted metal shield inscribed with “Kümmel mit Rum die Dienstzeit” (Kümmel with rum the service time).
Inscriptions & mottos:
Front: “Parole Heimath. Reserve” and the classic saying “Du warst mein Trost in trüben Stunden, das hab ich als Soldat empfunden.”
Back: “Wer weis ob wir uns Wiedersehn.” above a detailed, colorful tavern scene.
Markings: Stamped on the upper metal hoop with the serial number No. 67217 as well as the DRGM (Deutsches Reichs-Gebrauchsmuster) embossment on the back.
Condition: Excellent original condition. The porcelain is completely crack- and chip-free, the colors of the decor are fresh and unmarred. The tin mounting is stable, the thread engages perfectly. Even the original, age-appropriate patinated carrying cord is still present.
