Description from the seller

Antique Reservist's Bottle 1901-1903 / Inf.-Regt. No. 99 Zabern / Reservist Rosenbaum

For sale is a beautiful, original reservist's bottle (field bottle) from the era of the German Empire. An absolutely fascinating collectible for enthusiasts of historical militaria with great details.

Regiment: 6th Company / 2nd Upper Rhine Infantry Regiment No. 99

Garrison/Location: Zabern (today Saverne, Alsace)

Service years: 1901 – 1903

Reservist’s name: Reservist Rosenbaum

Motive: * Front: Magnificent, hand-painted porcelain medalion with a troop shoulder strap badge (“99”), imperial crown, oak leaves, flags, and the inscription “Parole Heimat”. In the lower banner: “Des Kaisers Rock u. dieses Zeichen kann jedem Mann zu Stolz gereichen”.

Back: Humorous, colorful farewell scene with a soldier riding a billy-goat (“Wohin Res. Rosenbaum... Nach Haus Herr Feldwebel...”).

Closure: Original screw cap (tin/metal cap) crowned with a sculpted, detailed eagle with spread wings. The cap can be completely removed (see photos).

Accessories: The original cord (carrying strap) in the typical regional colours is also still present.

Condition:
The bottle is in an age-appropriate, uncleaned original condition. The porcelain paintings on both sides are excellently preserved and the colours shine vividly. The outer metal ring holds the bottle together in principle, however the lower holder (hinge/clamp) no longer closes firmly (see close-up photo).
