Joan Miró's original colour lithograph Ubu aux Baléares, 1971, from the Ubu aux Baléares portfolio, on Arches paper, hand-signed and numbered, limited to 120 copies, originale edition, in excellent condition, with frame, 68 by 84 cm.
Description from the seller
Splendid and vibrant original full-color lithograph on Arches paper by the Catalan artist Joan Miró, realized in 1971. This work constitutes Plate 13 of the famous portfolio Ubu aux Baléares (Ubu in the Balearics), printed in Paris at the renowned Mourlot studio and published by Tériade. This series represents one of the peaks of Miró's late graphic production, characterized by extraordinary expressive freedom and a powerful satirical verve inspired by the avant-garde theatrical character Ubu Roi by Alfred Jarry. The composition masterfully unites Miró's typical surrealist, playful language with calligraphic elements, enriched by the autograph and stylized inscription "de l'or!" ("of gold!"). The primary colors (red and blue) sharply contrast with the black mark, energetic and dynamic, creating a visually striking and collectible image. Signature and numbering: The work is signed in pencil by the artist at the lower right and numbered in pencil at the lower left. It is part of a limited edition of only 120 copies worldwide (in addition to a few artist's proofs outside the trade).
