Antique triangular tripod occasional table from France, dating to 1920–1930, in wood with a removable marble inset, featuring gilt-metal mounts, 78 cm high, 40 cm wide/deep, and weighing 8 kg in fair condition with minor veneer damage.
Description from the seller
Triangular Tripod Occasional Table with Removable Marble Inset
France or Continental Europe
Style: Louis XV Revival / Belle Époque salon furniture
Elegant triangular tripod table with a removable marble inset top, raised on three slender cabriole legs. The table has a distinctly French salon character, with shaped apron panels, floral marquetry decoration, warm figured veneer, gilt-metal mounts and sabots, and a raised triangular top with beaded edging.
The design is decorative without becoming heavy: the triangular form gives it a lively, theatrical stance, while the three legs make it light and useful as a decorative occasional table, a plant stand or pedestal table. The removable marble inset adds contrast.
The apron is decorated with floral marquetry and scrolling ornament, echoed by the gilt-metal mounts along the legs and feet. A charming piece with plenty of decorative presence, ideal for an eclectic or classic interior.
Condition
Unrestored antique condition with signs of age and use consistent with its age. The table is stable. There are some small veneer damages and old repairs, including minor losses and areas where the veneer has lifted slightly.
