AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

An original Ashanti (Ghana) stool, ca, 1920. The piece is handcarved from 1 piece of wood. Beautifully aged, with a great patina and some signs of the time (piece of wood missing in the base and several seperations of the wood due to shrinkage.

The piece is constructively in good condition. It's very suitable to place on top of a shelving or console table as an eclectic accent. Stools like these have been in European interiors for decades. It's particularly stylish as an art object and conversation piece.

The last picture in the presentation shows two similar stools in the home of beauty magnate and collector Helena Rubinstein (New York, 1936). It demonstrates how well the combination of contemporary and tribal art can work.
