Murano - Sculpture, "Marlin fish" - 24 cm - Uranium glass

An exceptional and highly collectible piece of Italian mid-century artistry, this vintage Murano glass sculpture captures the dynamic energy of a leaping swordfish (or marlin). Crafted on the famous island of Venice, the piece showcases masterful command of the complex Sommerso technique.

Layers of vibrant ocean blue and emerald green glass are flawlessly submerged within a thick, crystal-clear outer casing, beautifully refracting daylight. The green glass layer is infused with a rare formulation containing trace amounts of uranium oxide. While appearing as a classic, elegant emerald tone in natural light, the green layer reacts spectacularly under ultraviolet ("black") light, emitting a brilliant, radioactive-like neon green glow.

The sculpture rests on a textured, ice-like clear glass base, adding a dramatic sense of movement. With its sweeping, elegant tail and stylized silhouette, this highly sought-after UV-reactive variant serves as a stunning centerpiece for any advanced art glass collection.
