Description from the seller
The first people on the Moon… With Neil Armstrong and Michael Collins, Buzz Aldrin flew to the Moon in 1969 with the Apollo 11 mission. When it became clear that Aldrin would be part of the mission, he waged a bitter behind-the-scenes fight with Neil Armstrong to be the first person to take the first steps on the Moon. NASA's decision went against him. On July 20, 1969, Aldrin ultimately became the second person on the Moon (UTC). In this book, Aldrin shares his experiences in space and his journey to the Moon.
On almost all the photos taken on the Moon during this trip, Buzz Aldrin is always depicted. Armstrong came off badly. The most iconic photo of the Moon journey is also of Buzz Aldrin and is also on the cover of this book. After his trip, he fell into a depression, drank heavily, and ultimately had to sell cars. He remains a hero in history, now 95 years old and the only living person who has walked on the Moon.
The book is unread, thus basically in new condition.
Featuring beautiful photographs and personally signed by Buzz Aldrin himself.
The book also includes a replica of the commemorative plaque ('we came in peace for all mankind'). The original of this plaque was left by Aldrin and Armstrong on the Moon and remains there… a magnificent book about humanity’s very first Moon mission and landing.
