AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Rare Baroque faience dish / deep display plate with a curved, crimped rim – circa 1720–1750

For sale is an authentic, deeply formed display dish from the Baroque period (first half of the 18th century). The piece impresses with its elaborately fluted, wavy rim and a masterful, hand-painted decoration in the classical Delftware style.

Central motif: A magnificent Baroque vase (flower basket) with a floral bouquet.

Edge: Surrounding, alternating reserves with fine lattice work and the era-typical wave-band / snail motifs.

Base mark: Underglaze-blue brush license on the underside (stroke with crescent/“c”, typical for manufactories such as Hanau, Frankfurt or Delft).

Material: Light faience shards with a covering white tin glaze and vivid cobalt-blue painting.

Diameter: approx. 17.5 cm

Height: approx. 5.5 cm

Age-appropriate very beautiful, collectible condition with splendid presence. The glaze wear typical for genuine early faience (fritting) and small chips on the delicate, wavy rim are present and underscore the authenticity of the approximately 300-year-old original piece.
