Montblanc Masterpiece 742N fountain pen with a vermeil gold-plated silver body and cap, made in Germany in the mid-20th century, in good used condition with minor signs of wear, and a solid gold 14K nib with a functioning piston-filling system.
Description from the seller
A0000002068
The fountain pen is presented in very good overall condition, maintaining excellent aesthetic and structural presence for a vintage model of this era.
The body and cap, made of sterling silver with a gold wash (vermeil), preserve a homogeneous and bright gold tone, with very light wear consistent with use and age, visible only upon close inspection. No dings, dents, or deformations are noted; the wavy engraving remains sharp, deep, and well defined across the surface.
The central ring, engraved “Montblanc,” clearly preserves its inscription, with minimal signs of superficial wear, no material loss, and no deformations. The gold clip is straight, firm, and correctly aligned, maintaining good shine and functional tension.
The white Montblanc emblem at the top of the cap is complete, well centered, and free of cracks, a point especially valued in this model.
The solid gold nib 14C (585) is original, with well-defined engravings and proper alignment of the swallowtail nibs, without signs of abnormal wear, bites, or visible repairs. The writing tip preserves a good profile and finish.
The piston-filling system works correctly, with smooth rotation and full travel, a sign of an internal mechanism in good operating condition.
Overall, this is an honest, cared-for, and well-preserved piece, ideal for both collection and occasional use, which maintains the character and elegance of post-war Montblanc Masterpiece pens.
It will be shipped in a courtesy box for proper preservation.
Happy bidding!
