Description
A fine complete set in three volumes of Terence's Comedies, translated and commented by Madame Dacier, a leading figure of classical scholarship in the eighteenth century.
Edition printed in Amsterdam and distributed in Paris (Barbou), dated 1767–1768.
Each volume is presented in an antique full calf binding, with a spine richly ornamented with gold-tooled tooling, and red edges.
The work is illustrated with engravings, including a remarkable allegorical frontispiece at the head of the first volume, as well as several engraved scenes inspired by ancient theatre.
