Description from the seller

Splendid Vanity Mirror or Desk with a curved pediment table, mounted in 950 silver and centered with a mahogany wrap, beveled mirror signed A.AUCOC for André AUCOC, Minerva hallmark 1st title at the bottom right, and mark on the reverse A.AUCOC 5 Rue De La Paix (Paris) in a centered cartouche
we also find the André AUCOC punch (Two A letters separated by a spearhead surmounted by a cock) which allows us to date this marvel precisely to the years 1887/1911
impressive dimensions: 52.5 cm in height and 37.5 cm in width, weighing about 5.800 kg
Famous AUCOC House, the Aucoc family business, located at 6 rue de la Paix, was founded in Paris in 1821 by Louis Aucoc senior, joined by his sons Louis the Younger and André; it was protected by the King Louis-Philippe’s house, the House of Orléans, Napoleon III and Empress Eugénie. The shop is mentioned in the first chapter of The Lady of the Camellias (published in 1848).
Henri Vever as well as René Lalique were apprentices of Aucoc. Lalique and Vever would later become leading figures in the Art Nouveau movement.
The company left the Aucoc family’s hands in 1932
Coming from a luxury auction, I can, if you wish, provide more information about provenance, family, etc.
I offer you today the opportunity to bid on an exceptional piece and, moreover, in 950 silver, this work is sure to interest collectors, but also investors,
Note a few surface scratches
Happy bidding to all
In view of the weight and fragility of this marvel, SMART SHIPPING will be required for this auction to best safeguard the interests of both parties (shipping costs + insurance)
As with all my items auctioned on this site, this marvel has undergone no cleaning (only dusting), nor modification since purchase
Look closely at the photos which are part of the description. Any damage not mentioned in the text but visible in the photos is considered described.

Seller's Story

Passionate about flea markets, and antiques of all kinds since my childhood, I was already selling on this site as an individual, the joy and kindness of the buyers made me understand that it was the right time to get started in my small business, I pay particular attention to the lots offered in order to be able to satisfy you, all my objects benefit from a very light cleaning and no restoration so that you can judge for yourself their quality and condition, so good auction to all and see you soon I hope
