Description from the seller

Splendid Pair of Salad Utensils in Horn and 800 Silver - Italy, 19th Century

For sale this refined pair of salad serving utensils (spoon and three-tine fork), a perfect example of period craftsmanship that combines natural precious materials with noble metals.
:
• Materials: The functional parts (the spoon's "blade" and the fork's tines) are made of natural horn. This material, known for its beauty and for not altering the taste of foods, features splendid grain and translucent shades ranging from honey blonde to dark brown, as visible in the photos.

• Handles: The handles are made of solid silver, weighing about 70 g. An elegant and sober shape, finished with a decorative bezel at the junction with the horn.

• Provenance and Era: On both handles, near the bezel, the stamp "800" is clearly visible inside a rectangular cartouche. This mark identifies silver of 800 fineness and is characteristic of Italian production.

• Condition: The items are in good vintage condition. They show the usual patina of silver, which can be polished at the buyer's discretion, and light signs of use on the horn, attesting to their authenticity and age without compromising functionality or aesthetics.
