Pair of two small rectangular porcelain ashtrays/tray pots, in fine white porcelain by Vista Alegre of Portugal, circa 1980–1990, each measuring 11 cm wide, 8.5 cm deep and 3.5 cm high, decorated with gilt details and stamped Vista Alegre on the base, in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
An elegant pair of small rectangular ashtrays and pocket-emptying trays in fine white porcelain, made by the historic and renowned Portuguese manufacturer Vista Alegre (founded in 1824).
Both pieces feature a refined elongated octagonal shape and celebrate the historic ties between Portugal and the Orient through trade by the Companhia das Índias.
Details of the Decorations:
Model "Cane di Fo" (Imari Style): Centers on the mythological guardian lion (Cane di Fo) in gold and ferric red tones, framed by an elegant geometric cobalt-blue wave border (Seigaiha) and finished with fine gold gilding.
Flora Model (Pink Family Style): A celebration of peonies and palmate leaves in shades of pink, green, and tobacco orange, enriched with gold veins, echoing the classic 18th-century export Chinese motifs.
Today these objects, in addition to their original function, are perfect as elegant entrance catchalls, night-time jewelry holders, or as refined display elements for European porcelain collectors.
