Walter Valentini (Pergola, 22 October 1928 – Milan, 20 May 2022) was an Italian painter, sculptor and engraver, internationally recognized in the field of graphics and engraving.

In a conversation with art critic Luciano Caprile, Valentini speaks of etching as a discipline that contains in itself something 'sacred': “It is like performing a rite when you etch; and ritual is the way the work is printed. The gestures you use when touching the paper are ritual; and when you wet it, when you place it on the press bed; and finally when it returns to you the mark that you had previously only imagined.”
