Bennie Yellowman Nelson is a well-known Navajo artist who has been painting for over 50 years. He comes from a family of weavers and glass bead stitchers and has been drawing and painting since childhood. He is best known for his acrylic and watercolor artworks that underscore indigenous culture and convey a sense of wildness and strength. He is also known for his expressive portraits of warriors.
