Magnificent Russian lacquer box with a hand-painted winter scene of a snow-covered monastery or city panorama. The box has a black exterior with decorative gold accents and a bright red interior, typical for Russian souvenir and lacquerware objects. On the underside is “Русский сувенир” ("Russian souvenir"), indicating Russian origin in souvenir style.

The item is light in weight and presumably made of papier-mâché with a lacquer coating, in line with the traditional construction of Russian lacquer boxes.
