Signed by hand and dated 1972.
Artwork dimensions: 95 x 75.5 cm; 116 x 95.5 cm (framed).
Provenance: private collection.
Condition: Good overall state of conservation. It presents a hole in the canvas.
Joan Cruspinera is a Catalan artist born in Tiana (Barcelona) in 1945. He completed his artistic training in various European institutions, among them the Academy of Fine Arts in Salzburg and the Friedlander studio in Paris. Throughout his career he has developed an intense artistic and exhibition activity, participating in exhibitions held in cities such as New York, Los Angeles, Madrid, Berlin, Zurich and Barcelona, among others.
The present work, dated 1972, represents a female figure in profile resolved through a composition of great expressive force. Notable are the chromatic intensity, the rich materiality, and the marked gestural character of the brushstroke, features present in the artist's output during this period.
