This silversmith had specialized in, among other things: teapots, milk jugs, sugar pots and tobacco boxes.

The teapot is finely chased with leaf and shell motifs in the Rococo style.

The teapot is stamped with several marks. The master’s mark a tulip in an oval belongs to Isaac de Vries, year letter K for 1744, city mark Amsterdam and the first quality mark. Finally stamped with the hatchet as a tax mark.

On the teapot one side bears the inscription: D L T O D S (?) On the other side is engraved: 1866 January 11, 1891 (inscription added later)
