Jan Coolhaas was baptized on March 23, 1727 in the Buurkerk. In 1740 he became an apprentice to his father and in 1747 he became a master silversmith. He also trained several apprentices in the craft afterward. On July 10, 1766 he died as a mondige vrijer, or rather unmarried. He had worked at the premises on Donkere Gaard until his death.
