Three‑piece lot featuring a Tiffany Dragonfly‑inspired table lamp in stained glass and resin, France origin, 27 cm wide, 38 cm high, 27 cm deep, multicolour Art Nouveau, estimated period 2000–2010, in new condition and in working order.
Description from the seller
Table lamp inspired by the Dragonfly model designed by Clara Driscoll in the Tiffany Studios workshops around 1900, one of the most iconic motifs in the New York Art Nouveau repertoire. This piece reproduces the original composition of a crown of dragonflies unfurled around the dome, in a contemporary reading faithful to the vocabulary of master glassmakers of the early 20th century.
The lampshade is assembled using the copper foil technique developed by Louis Comfort Tiffany, each glass fragment encircled by an adhesive copper foil before being leaded. The work gathers nearly 220 pieces of opalescent glass cut and hand-soldered, punctuated by raised cabochons in ruby, amber, emerald, and sapphire tones that catch the light in transparency.
The upper cap consists of an opalescent blue glass sky striated with turquoise and aqua tones, treated in Favrile spirit for its material play. The lower part unfolds a warm amber ground with honeyed yellow and orange variations, on which four dragonflies in flight stand out: bodies set with deep ruby glass, wings treated in textured blue lavender glass with a delicate speckling evoking the venation of the elytra. The cabochons scattered throughout the composition depict dew drops dear to the Tiffany repertoire.
The base is in zinc alloy patinated to an antique bronze, tapered into a flared corolla at the base and fashioned into a slender column topped with a swan neck. The dark patina recalls the original Tiffany Studios bronzes and echoes the lampshade’s leaded work.
