AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Ancient neolithic hand-hewn Libyan Desert Glass

Libyan Desert Glass (LDG) was created 28 million ago, when a big meteorite hit the sandstone formation at the great sand see in the Sahara.
By hitting the ground the kinetic energy was set free in a huge explosion that vaporised the meteorite and the surrounding earth surface. The heat melted the Sandstone that is now found as impact glass. LDG has been used for making tools already in the early stone age. In the Neolithic times fine blades and scrapers have been made. The most famous piece of jewellery made from LDG is the scarab in the pectoral from pharaoh Tutankhamen.

46.5g 77 x 44 x 12 mm, no recent chips, Cristobalite inclusions

Clearly visible Neolithic traces of working. It cannot be conclusively determined whether the piece was ultimately worked and utilized as a tool, or if it was merely a blank.
