THE ENGRAVED COVER PLATE
The top of the motor housing is formed by a decorative brass plate on which the months and days of the year are engraved. You can use this to set the model so that you can follow the relative positions of the Earth, Moon and Sun in real time.
MOVEMENT IN MINIATURE
The most striking part of the tellurium is the beautifully engraved brass motor housing containing the gearing and the power regulator. It displays the 12 astronomical constellations by which you can follow the Earth's orbit around the Sun.
The gear ratios have been precisely calculated to reproduce the movement of Earth and Moon exactly. At the highest motor speed the model will complete one day in two seconds. A month takes 60 seconds, while a year lasts 12 minutes. The model can also be operated manually, with adjustable speed. The Moon, with a diameter of over 5 degrees, is also constructed.
MATERIALS & CONSTRUCTION
The gears are made of solid brass.
The cast spheres are made of high-quality ABS, are meticulously painted, and show the surface of the Sun, the continents, oceans and polar masses of the Earth, and the craters, highlands and plains of the Moon.
The Sun contains a built-in LED lamp.
The model's Earth axis has the same inclination as our home world; the tellurium thus realistically shows the passing of the seasons as the Earth makes its orbit around the Sun.
During shipping, some parts are shipped loose. These are easy to reassemble. The model is packed in a plastic box with bubble wrap and then in a cardboard box.
