Weight: 117 grams

Length: 29 cm

Original owner:

Initials in Gothic, V. v. K. Valentine Von Kraus. A nobleman from Hermannstadt with a high position in the town. His family was a good client of the silversmith, Daniel Dendler. This piece might have been a birthday or wedding gift.

Dating: 1787-1816

Maker: Daniel Dendler

Origin: Hermannstadt, Transylvania, now Romania.

A very rare silver serving spoon made by the silversmith Daniel Dendler around 1800. The noble families from this region had the tradition of engraving their initials combined with a crown. The more pearls the crown had, the higher the owner's rank. This crown has 5 pearls, so this piece comes from the knightly nobility. 7 pearls, for example, are intended for a count.
