Historia de la navegacion maritima is a 1951 first edition sea navigation sticker album, originally in Spanish, consisting of 23 pages in good condition and featuring 300 stickers.
Description from the seller
We present an extraordinary find dating from 1950-1951. Extremely rare, probably unique, complete with all pages and the 300 stickers. It is in very good condition.
A unique historical testimony of Uruguayan society, daily life and advertising of 1950. It is a sticker album, a promotional advertising collection that tells the history of maritime navigation published 76 years ago by the most important chocolate company of that period, DE SAINT HNOS. DEL URUGUAY AVDA. SAN MARTIN 2808 — MONTEVIDEO (see last page).
We must imagine what incredible and unique circumstances allowed this publication to be preserved.
The child who, in 1951, collected the stickers achieved 2 extraordinary things: he collected all 300 stickers and then never submitted the album to claim the top prize, a circumstance that would have led to the destruction of the album; for some unknown reason, it was then preserved and handed down through history until today for 76 years!
The stickers were contained in the chocolates: >.
It is extremely interesting to read the last page of the album with the rules and prize details: the collection expires on December 31, 1951! The album was also produced in collaboration with the Ministry of Primary Education and some stickers appeared in the magazine “El Grillo”; it is read that it reads that >
There were 4 steps with the corresponding prizes based on the number of stickers collected: 1-30; 31-100; 101-200; 201-300.
There is nothing like this on the market and the object's value is priceless. For this reason there is no reserve price; we expect a lot from this auction.
The extraordinariness of the object lies in the fact that it was not conceived to be preserved for nearly a century but returned to the company and sent to the mill.
The condition is very good, the paper is slightly time-stained but easily cleaned. It has some minimal marks, visible in the photo, such as bottom right on the first page. We are talking about an object that was not born to be preserved but that has survived and been handed down for over a century!
Saddle-stitched binding with a metal staple.
