Description from the seller
Manufacture: France
Epochs: XIXth century prints. XXth century frames
Pair of graphic miniatures depicting historic ladies in rich oval frames in neo-Baroque style (Louis XIV / Louis XV Revival)
Engravings (etchings) pressed on paper, finely hand-colored with watercolor and highlighted.
Inscriptions: Each bears at the bottom the publisher's imprint: «Paris - Louis Janet Éditeur».
The internal cartouches bear respectively the historical titles: «Sous Louis XIII - 1630» and «Sous Louis XV - 1750».
Frames with decorative impact, made of wood and gilded plaster. They feature a lavish openwork layout moved by opposing scrolls, Rococo-style curls and a pierced cimasa with foliate motifs, a perfect expression of the Eclectic style that, in splendor, revisited the glories of the Ancien Régime.
Condition: Excellent condition of the frames with slight warm patinas of time; minor flaws to gilding. Natural and slight yellowing of the paper with rare foxing that do not compromise the legibility of the scenes.
