Antico Borgo, an oil painting by Matteo Laganà (born 1946), Italian landscape in Impressionism, 70 × 50 cm, weight 2500 g, created between 1980 and 1990, hand-signed, original edition, in excellent condition, sold with frame.
Description from the seller
Matteo Laganà, born in Milan in 1946, nicknamed the painter of the Navigli, but also a Lombard Macchiaolo. At number 4 of Alzaia Naviglio Grande, almost hidden, is Matteo Lugano's atelier, from which he was named president of the "Gruppo Pittori del Naviglio Grande". In 1985 he was bestowed with the honor of Knight of the Republic for artistic merits. He held numerous exhibitions in galleries in Milan that no longer exist, as well as in Paris and Budapest. But what saddened Matte Lugano was that he tried to defend the Navigli as an entire system and to see them distorted by unstoppable speculation. His works, very realistic, resemble postcards more than anything. He left us in 2024.
N.B. the painting has a completely new handmade wooden frame and passe-partout.
