Description from the seller
Matteo Laganà, born in Milan in 1946 and nicknamed the painter of the Navigli, but also a Lombard Macchiaolico. At number 4 of the Alzaia Naviglio Grande, almost hidden, is the studio of Matteo Lugano, hence he was named president of the "Gruppo Pittori del Naviglio Grande." In 1985 he was awarded the honor of Knight of the Republic for artistic merits. He held numerous exhibitions in galleries in Milan that no longer exist, as well as in Paris and Budapest. But what saddened Matte Lugano was that he tried to defend the Navigli as an entire system and see them distorted by unstoppable speculation. His works, very realistic, resemble postcards more. He left us in 2024.
