Two-piece mid‑century uranium glass set from Artisanat Belge in Belgium (ca. 1960–1970), featuring a Splash‑form bowl and a Mand‑form bowl, in excellent condition with a minor chip on the underside of one piece, and both bowls exhibit a bright neon green glow under UV light.
Description from the seller
Gorgeous mid-century uranium glass set - Artisanat Belge (Braine-le-Comte)
A stunning two-piece set of vintage design glass from the 1960s/70s.
These organically quirky-shaped bowls are made by the well-known Belgian glassworks.
- A Splash-shaped bowl: this bowl imitates the effect of a liquid drop settling; the points are drawn upward and outward asymmetrically.
- A Basket-shaped bowl: this bowl is a sculptural little basket where the sides and flowing lines rise up and converge in the middle to form an elegant handle.
Unique for collectors:
Under normal daylight the glass has a subtle clear green-transparent color, yet when illuminated with a UV lamp both bowls light up spectacularly and bright neon green.
Given the distinctive design and color progression, this is guaranteed to have been made by the historic Belgian glass factory S.A. Verreries de Braine-Le-Compte (Hainaut) under the luxury line Artisanat Belge.
The factory was so highly regarded that in that period they even produced for the world-renowned Val Saint Lambert.
in beautiful vintage condition, the glass is completely clear and free of lime scale. one of the bowls has a small chip on the underside (see last photo); this is hardly noticeable due to the quirky shape.
