Description from the seller

An antique Viennese bronze bird figurine (also referred to as Wiener Bronze) depicting a great tit or blue tit.

This type of miniature figurines is made of cold-painted bronze. This technique was enormously popular in Vienna, Austria, around the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century.

Well-known foundries such as Franz Bergmann's produced many of these highly detailed animal figures at the time.

In cold-painted bronze, the different layers of paint were applied directly to the unheated cast bronze. This produced a very vivid and colorful appearance, although the paint proved to be quite prone to scratching over the years.
