Description from the seller
Era: early 1900s
Material: beech wood
Style: between Art Nouveau and early Art Déco influences
Condition: good, with slight signs of age; as shown in the images, one of the feet may require a small restoration
Refined and elegant étagère from the early twentieth century, made of beech wood.
Although lacking decorations and ornaments, it can be aligned with the Art Nouveau taste; the geometric and essential lines emphasize its formal purity and visual lightness.
The vertical uprights, thin, proportioned and strict, mark the space with balance and give the piece refined essentiality.
The functional conception and the clarity of the design hint at a transition phase toward rationalist Art Déco, making this piece an interesting witness to an evolution of taste between two eras, where decoration gives way to functionality and modern design.
Thanks to its sober lines and discreet presence, this piece blends naturally into classic settings as well as contemporary or eclectic contexts.
Perfect as a decorative element or as a stand to display art objects, books or collections, it combines functionality and period taste in a timeless balance.
Pick-up required in Northern Italy, in Brescia or Verona; alternatively in Emilia-Romagna at a location to be agreed (with possible contribution). The item cannot be shipped.
